Trauma Therapy for Adults

Located in Denver Colorado

Welcome!

My name is Rich Thomas, and I am the founder of Sylvie Point Counseling. I offer telehealth therapy to adults across Colorado, as well as in-person walk-and-talk and nature-based therapy sessions for those who prefer to meet outdoors.

I specialize in helping adults heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mood-related concerns through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and other evidence-based approaches. My goal as a trauma therapist is to support you in processing difficult experiences, reducing distressing symptoms, and achieving lasting healing and growth. EMDR therapy uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, to help clients reprocess and lessen the impact of traumatic or distressing experiences. To learn more, please visit the EMDR section of my services page.

In addition to EMDR and trauma therapy, I offer psilocybin-assisted therapy in partnership with a licensed healing center for individuals seeking a deeper, transformative approach to healing trauma, depression, anxiety, and personal growth. You can learn more about this service by visiting the psilocybin-assisted therapy section of my website.

I also enjoy working with men to address concerns unique to their experiences and to reduce the stigma surrounding counseling. Men often seek therapy less frequently and may suffer in silence. As a male therapist, I understand these challenges and am committed to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where men can engage in therapy without shame or fear. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities and strive to ensure that every client feels heard, respected, and understood.

Many clients find that walk-and-talk therapy and nature-based therapy help reduce stress and anxiety, increase mindfulness, promote openness during difficult conversations, and strengthen the therapeutic relationship. Incorporating movement and time outdoors into the counseling process can also improve overall mental and physical well-being.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each individual's unique goals, strengths, and experiences. By personalizing treatment to meet your specific needs, I can help you develop effective strategies to overcome challenges, heal from past experiences, and create meaningful, lasting change. Together, we will navigate life's challenges and help you move toward greater healing, resilience, and well-being.

About Richard Thomas

My primary clinical focus is helping adults heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mood-related concerns through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and other evidence-based approaches. I also offer psilocybin-assisted therapy in partnership with a licensed healing center for individuals seeking a deeper, transformative approach to healing and personal growth. In addition, I enjoy working with men to address concerns unique to their experiences and to reduce the stigma surrounding seeking support.

I take an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to each client's unique needs, goals, and strengths. My work incorporates a variety of evidence-based interventions, including treatment planning and goal setting, mindfulness and relaxation techniques, psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, and skills development. The therapeutic modalities I most frequently utilize include EMDR therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care. I also offer walk-and-talk therapy and nature-based therapy sessions for clients who prefer incorporating movement and the outdoors into the therapeutic process.

I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have experience providing therapeutic care across diverse settings, including community mental health, outpatient and inpatient treatment, crisis intervention and assessment, and private practice. These experiences have shaped my compassionate, client-centered approach and allow me to support individuals facing a wide range of concerns.
